The Digital Bible #8

2017 - Things can only get better!

Welcome to the first installment of the Digital Bible in 2017. Hopefully you had a nice long break and have returned to the real world rested and ready for a better year than last. This week's bible is a collection of some things that I spotted over the yuletide break and some more recent things so I hope you enjoy it. Onwards!

What was the last interaction you had with someone on your phone? Chances are it was via Whatsapp or something similar. Check out this piece on how Whatsapp has changed things for immigrants.

I had a piece here before Christmas that spoke about some of the issues advertisers were having with Snapchat. Maybe they read it too. They announced 'goal based bidding'. Check it out here

We've been hearing about the US election and hacking since even before the polling day. And this is a really interesting piece from Recode about what it means, and how Trump is trying to play it down.

It's never ending. First we've had 3 rounds of Facebook admissions about them over reporting aspects of engagements and now it's Twitter's turn with an up to 35% inflation on video views

I've spoken many times about my concerns over data privacy and just how blasé we are about who knows what about us. This is a really interesting piece on why we should be concerned by Alexa.

2016 was an interesting year for social media. So what's in store in 2017? Well this Fast Company piece is well worth a few minutes of your time. Especially those of you just starting your social journey.

Early in 2016 the Zuck said he was working on a Jarvis like AI system for his home. Just before Christmas he dropped this video of it in action. Personally I welcome our new AI overlords...

I'm in the market for a new laptop so this ZenBook Deluxe from Asus is this week's covetable item. Fast, light and plenty of storage. If you need a machine - make sure you consider this.

I'll be back again next week with some more links to great content around the web. In the meantime - it'd be great if you could share this page around and help me add to my subscribers list which they can join by filling in the box on this page
